CUSTOM MESHES!!! ZOMG

Today's suggestion for artful procrastination is to play the Sims 3. If you don't have it, go out an get it.

And figure it out. And figure out how to make custom meshes, please. And when you do that, get back to me. Because I want custom meshes.

This should occupy you and allow you to procrastinate for at least six years.

Hello again. I don't know if you've heard of Alice and Kev, or not yet, but if you haven't definatly go to http://aliceandkev.wordpress.com/2009/06/09/alice-and-kev/ and check it out. It's a bloggers experience with the Sims 3. It is really heart wrenching at times and humorous. I was putting off buying the Sims 3 since it came down, but today while running errands I finally went out and picked it up. Guess I know what I'll be doing this evening. ;-P

lol That's awesome. Yeah, I saw that. Very interesting, huh?

I actually wrote a VERY detailed review of the Sims 3 the day after I bought it (which I felt authoritative enough to do, after having played it for a day straight).

A Review of teh Sims 3: An Empty Experience. I know the title sounds doomy and gloomy, but that's the way I was feeling at the time. Since writing it, I've learned to make my own fun with it, but I'm STILL waiting for custom content like everybody else. *sighs*

Just read your review, pretty spot on technically, nice job! For myself... well I shouldn't have bought it, because now I just can't stop playing. I dabbled with the sims 2 a little bit, but it never really sucked me in. I absolutely am loving the personality traits. What I did that has been really enjoyable is taken one of my own characters from a fantasy story I'm working on and made her as accurately as possible. I pretty much dumped her into the Sims 3 world and only let her do interactions that were totally in character. I feel like the game really did a great job at creating all of the intricacies of her personality. I think I'm going to try and do a blog about it later, it's been a pretty interesting challenge for me thus far.

You know, that would be an awesome challenge to writers that own the Sims 3: play your characters. I tried that with Sims 2 once, but it was kinda boring -- not enough personality variety.

Yeah, I didn't expect much out of it, but the Sims 3 really impressed me with it's generated personality. Even limited to selecting just five traits I sat back and just watched and had a great laugh thinking "yeah, she would do that wouldn't she."
